Blending the traditional with the eclectic, Fort Greene is now home to one of Brooklyn’s most outstanding Turkish Restaurants: Deniz! They focus on Mediterranean and Turkish fare that is crisp, bold in flavor and satisfying. Come enjoy their traditional stuffed grape leaves, hummus and eggplant salad for starters, and then move on to their wide range of seafood, fish and meat kebabs for a great meal. Heartier Turkish fare such as dumplings filled with lamb and onions are cooked to perfection, and for those weary of Middle Eastern flavors, a handful of Italian-style pastas are also available. So for your next meal, come and try out Deniz!
Eggplant Salad (Patlican Salatasi)—Char-grilled eggplant puree seasoned with garlic, red pepper, dill, red onion, lemon and olive oil
Grilled Octopus Salad—Char-grilled fresh octopus, tomato, red onions and mixed green salad tossed with olive oil and lemon juice
Chicken Piccata—Chicken breast, asparagus and Mozzarella cheese in a white wine sauce
Marinated Ribeye—Served with French fries and sautéed vegetables
Seafood stuffed Flounder—Stuffed flounder; served baked and with a mixed green salad
Deniz Combination Seafood Platter—Broiled sole, shrimp, scallops and salmon; served with mixed green salad
Always good.

This place is great. Speedy delivery and the food is excellent.

some of the best chicken wings I've ever had! Otherwise, I've seen the quality of the food here slowly degrade over the past few years. Still very good.

grape leaves - texturally unpleasant and too sweet, salad - large but mostly lettuce, eggplant salad - good but needs citrus, bread - good

very yummy

Deniz is great for two reasons: 1) The delivery is lightning fast. No, seriously, LIGHTNING fast. These guys don't mess around! 2) The food is delicious, especially the fresh mozzarella salad. The dressing is perfect, the cheese is delicious. The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is that the skewer chicken can be pretty overcooked/chewy, which is no fun if that's all you order. Other than that, go for it!

Food was fresh and delicious!

Deniz is very tasty. The "main courses" offer a nice mix of flavors that are fresh and delicious. I usually order the lamb shish kabob main course, or the wrap if I'm not as hungry.

Best Turkish dumplings I've ever had. The bread that comes with the order is hot and yummy too.

The appetizer platter is phenomenal and their Chicken Gyro is always fresh and juicy. I haven't had a complaint yet. My favorite Mediterranean take out in Prospect Heights.

Falafel lunch plate was pretty sad for $10. Fast delivery tho, and the lentil soup was tasty

Lamb Gyro + Spinach Tarator + their delicious pide bread = AMAZING! The Manti is also very good!
Posted 5 months ago by Ann S.
the falafel was too dense and grainy and the lunch portions are small. that being said the bread is great.

one hour and thirty seven minutes. not good.

have ordered from them 2x now in one week, about to place my 3rd order. grilled shrimp was great, but salmon kebab was ridiculously delicious. I asked them not to deliver bread the second time b/c when it showed up with the first order I did not have the willpower to stop eating it, esp dunked in the sauce...mmmm...so they gave me an extra large salad instead. thank you!

Everything I've ever ordered from Deniz is fantastic, and the delivery is lightning fast. A favorite!

Called because it had been 50 min from when I placed my order. The gentleman was VERY rude on the phone. Lost a customer. . .

Ordered Chicken Adana Kebab for lunch and some hummus. I was happy with the taste of the food for the most part except that I became extremely ill after eating it; food poisoning says my doctor. Don't think I'll order again.

consistent, fresh, with good cuts of meat. great delivery range without delivering cold food. takes a long time, but they are upfront that deliveries can take up to 45 minutes.

Delivery was prompt. Menu is very innovative, although a bit lacking in descriptions of some of the dishes. The asparagus couscous was amazing, I highly recommend. The lamb adana wrap and the falafel sandwich were ok, but next time we'll probably explore the menu a bit more.

The food is great but the portion size for entrees are a bit on the small side.

Their food is top notch -- fantastically cooked meats, incredible bread. The only thing that stops me from ordering from them all the time is that you don't get as much food as you would expect for the money you pay.

The baklava is so good that I have built an entire delivery order around it when I have a craving. The falafel wrap and Mediterranean salad are also stand outs.

I was excited to have a turkish place close enough to my apartment to deliver, but I was a little disappointed in Deniz. I had the chicken kebab, and the portion was pretty small and it did not come with any grilled veggies like most turkish kebabs do. The hummus was pricey at 5 bucks and only so-so and the bread was hard and did not taste the best. I was hoping to make this into two meals, but it really only was enough for one. I don't think I'd order from here again.

Great taste and love the immense amount of hummus you get! The salad's and apps are small but tasty. If you are looking for a great food this is your place.

The bread is really good--crispy, delicious--and so is the hummus and babaganoush. They are really good about giving sauces on the side and are timely. My complaint is with the meat. Their lamb and chicken kabobs and gyros just are a step below the better turkish places in brooklyn and the city.

Delicious. Deniz is the perfect end of the week, laid back delivery meal, perfect with a bottle of wine. I especially like the cold appetizer plate.

We ordered a shish kabob and a shish kabob wrap. The food arrived after an hour, but was incorrect (just wraps). When we called to correct the order, they agreed to send the correct entree but asked for the food back. We finally got our food 2 hours later. The shish kabob may be good, but not that good.

Great Turkish food, especially the Manti and Lamb Gyro.

Everything arrived carefully packaged and hot. Highly recommend the octopus salad and the lebni. Both were delicious.

Quite good, huge portions. A good goto for tasty, not too pricey food. Mixed appetizer plater should not be passed up.

Small portions for the price. Only 4 small pcs of stuffed cabbage.

totally mediocre Turkish food. The Cacik was pretty high quality, but their bread was nothing special, and their Adonna Yogutlu was nothing special. Pretty good service, though.

Fabulous! Mixed grill was enormous and lovingly spiced.. Octopus salad a delight.

it was ok--the mixed grill was not so good--they didn't put enough chicken kebab in--just the gyro meat

always a solid meal from them. we have ordered maybe 15-20 times from here in the short time they have been open as they are always fast and the food is always fresh. there is only one time there was ever a bad experience and even then it was still better than a lot of the other options around clinton hill. i cant imagine why anyone would complain about portion size. i can barely finish mine AND they tend to send one or two loaves of fresh made puffy flat bread that is amazing and with a touch of honey has been a dessert more than a few times.

HORRIBLE SERVICE! I never received my food and when I called the restaurant they claimed their delivery guy got lost. However, I never receieved a call from the restaurant to verify my address or to get directions. I will NEVER order from here again.

Good food but such small portions! Appallingly small portions of food for the money. The contents of my $13 entree fit nicely into the palm of my hand. The falafel that was to come on a "bed of hummus" had a small, almost thimble-sized container of hummus as an accompaniment. Love the food but it is doubtful that I would order take out again due to the portions. I will have to eat in the restaurant itself before I officially write this off my list.

While the chicken kabobs we ordered from here were all right, the asparagus cous cous and tabouli were completely inedible.
Posted 2 years ago by Sarah F.
falafel plate was hot and fresh...def. worth it. great hummus. lamb shish was tres nice...except for the raw onions (but that's just me)...altogether great deal on a cold, hungry night!
Posted 2 years ago by Ify O.
falafel had no flavor, and only had hummus. for 12 bucks. back in sf at ali baba's cave.. you'd get rice, hummus, tabouleh, a bunch of pita, and all that falafel for 8. deniz is not worth it.

The hummus is delicious!

Almost everything I've had here has been delicious. The kebabs are very good, the stuffed chicken and shrimp casserole entree are very good. I love and often get the manti - the lamb dumplings in yogurt sauce. With every meal I usually get the spinach tarator, which is great with the fluffy bread they send with every order. The only thing I didn't particularly enjoy were the zucchini pancakes which were kind of soggy by the time I got them, and just a little oily overall. Also, the staff at the restaurant and the delivery guys are always very cordial and friendly. It takes 30-45 mins to get your order, but that's pretty reasonable and definitely within the time frame they tell you.

I was surprised by how good this place is. A welcome new restaurant in the neighborhood. The chicken kebab is the best in the area. Hot sauce is great. And although usually cold (but still fresh) by the time it gets here, i'm sure the bread they include is great when you eat in.
